Corrosion Testing Laboratories offers testing of materials to verify conformation to various industry standards. CTL can certify materials meeting Corrosion and Material specifications for standards such as ASTM, NACE, MTI, ISO, ASME, AWS, API, as well as custom corrosion testing.

Corrosion Testing Laboratories is capable of performing a wide range of laboratory testing from standard ASTM, DOT/EPA, and NACE test procedures to customized test programs. Four general areas of testing include: electrochemical, DOT corrosivity, heat transfer and immersion test.



DOT/GHS/EPA Corrosivity Tests

CTL performs the InVitro Corrositex synthetic skin test and the metal tests for determination of DOT corrosivity per CFR Title 49, Chapter I, Section 173.137. These tests are also required fro GHS compliance. EPA Corrosivity is determined per  EPA Publication SW-846, Method 1110, Corrosivity Towards Steel.


Tests include a full range of DC corrosion tests; i.e. polarization, potentiostatic, galvanic, etc., critical pitting/crevice temperature, and inhibitor testing. These tests yield quick, valuable information concerning the corrosion behavior of an alloy to a specific environment. AC Impedance techniques are used to evaluate coating performance and may also be used to study metals.

Heat Transfer Tests (Hot Wall Tests)

Heat transfer tests consist of a flat test specimen with one side exposed to the test solution. The test solution is heated through the test specimen by attaching a heater to opposite side of the specimen simulating heat transfer conditions in an externally heated vessel. These test may be performed from ambient pressure to 100 psi.

Immersion Tests

CTL performs a vast array of immersion testing from simple "dunk tests" to complicated multi phase process simulations. These tests include ASTM, NACE, ISO, and MTI test procedures. Metallic and non-metallic materials are tested as required.
